August 2017. A symposium hosted by the Boothbay Railway Village will run from August 1 to 31 with a ten-day sculpture symposium August 11 to 21 featuring 12 well known Maine stone sculptors working daily. More information can be found on the Railway Village website.

Past Stories and Events:

The Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium was an artist in residency program that gave sculptors from Maine Sculpture at Blue Hilland around the world the chance to focus on a single piece of public art created in Maine granite. The pieces are in place and a trail map is available to help find them.


August 24, 2016 Boothbay Register article about the Guild.  A 9,000-pound piece of North Jay white granite was transported to the Boothbay Railway Village Museum by J.C. Stone on Aug. 13. North Jay is J.C.'s “signature stone” used in historic restoration projects. And that's just what members of the Maine Stone Workers Guild (MSWG) were using it for: to replace the pressure-treated wood stairs of the Musuem's 1847 Town Hall....

September 30 to October 9, 2016: Viles Arboretum Third Annual Sculpture Symposium. MSWG members and fellow artists sculpting stone masterpieces on-site on these beautiful arboretum grounds which include a sculpture trail. WABI posted a video and story about this event!
