The Guild is strengthing its commitment to education to build for the future of stonework and stone workers in Maine. As we proceed we have established an Education Fund whose ongoing work will support this. There will be more information here about other opportunities in the future.
MSWG Education Fund
The Maine Stone Workers Guild Education Fund is a 501C3 tax exempt fund directly affiliated with the Maine Stone Workers Guild (a 501C6 Business Association). The MSWG Education Fund exclusively supports professional education in the art and craft of stone working as practiced in the State of Maine. Educational activities may include, but are not limited to, apprenticeships, internships, scholarships, mentoring programs as well as public demonstrations, lectures and exhibitions. Funding generated through private donations and grants is held separately and exclusively from MSWG accounts.
Established in 2012 with initial funding from the estate of renowned Maine sculptor Don Justin Meserve, the Education Fund honors his vision to perpetuate and enrich the legacy of Maine stone work. Our first internships led by professional members Jesse Salisbury and Mark Herrington are underway this spring. We plan to promote and expand additional educational programs: tax exempt donations are welcomed, as are any suggestions for programming.
